Henery is getting results !

Henery asks

But get this, according to someone in the know, the City told the owner, John W. Carter, who’s also the owner of Mangine’s, that if he wanted the building to remain standing, it would have to be painted. So, he’s going to have the West and South sides of the building painted, as they’re the only sides seen from Colorado Ave.

Yo, City Hall, are you serious? This is how we address these situations? What about the roof?!

Paula’s Perspective – June 9th Council Meeting

Paula Tobias by Paula Tobias

Disclaimer:
I try very hard to listen, think about what they’re saying, and write key points down. If I’ve missed something please let me know.

First Item of the evening:

Committee Meeting about the Elmwood Wetland Preserve.

About 20 Residents from the area were there, none appeared to be in favor. Dr. Leslie had a very good report and research that supported the residents concerns: security, unkempt grounds and water runoff into their properties.

I echoed Mr. Wargo’s comment, that if we’re going to do something, we better do it right. I also mentioned that there was a water pump station back there that wasn’t shown in the plans/maps and I was concerned about the security of our water.

Bravo Mr Given and Mr. Fallis:
Mr. Given, in essence said, why are we taking on a project when we are in financial distress, this isn’t high on the project list.Mr. Fallis felt when the Administration/Comm. Dev. come to us with a project show us the financials.
It was moved to put into abeyance.

Next Chief Brown explained the Fire department’s goals and accomplishments. I previously had emailed about the discrepancy between our false alarm calls and the National Averages. He addressed as other departments around the country have EMTs/First Responder which change the percentages compared to us as we don’t have First Responder now.

After just these two committee meetings it was already past 8:30 PM. The weather was getting nasty and I’d had a long day. So I look forward to the minutes regarding the Tax Credit.

Note the MJ’s article
PUBLIC FAILS TO SPEAK UP OVER INCOME TAX CREDIT

More importantly I look forward to next week when the Mayor will hopefully address Ms. Szabo’s question last week, “What is the status on Oglebay Norton?”
