The Best Gift – A DAD!!!!

Paula Tobias by Paula Tobias

The best gift I ever gave my girls, I gave to them 31 years ago this coming Tuesday June 17th 1977. I married their Father

It must be very difficult being a father. I only truly appreciated mine after I had children of my own. Lost him when I thought I was going to lose my husband 6 years ago.

So on this Father’s Day I’d like to remind you to take a moment and remember all the men in your life who have been like Father’s to you and thank them.
Father’s Day Quotes:

Margaret Truman:
It’s only when you grow up, and step back from him, or leave him for your own career and your own home – it’s only then that you can measure his greatness and fully appreciate it. Pride reinforces love.
Knights of Pythagoras:
A man never stands as tall as when he kneels to help a child.

Charles Wadsworth:
By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong.

Kent Nerburn :
It is much easier to become a father than to be one.

They set sail – on a delightful trip

Photo Lorain Growth Corporation
Mike from Lorain Growth was on hand for his report

At noon today 16 downtown workers boarded the Lady Charleston boat at Black River Landing on the west-side of the Black River and went to the Jackalope restaurant, at Spitzer Marina, on the east-side for lunch. The cost is $2 per person each way. What a great way to relax and enjoy your lunch-hour. Melanie Wilson of The Stocker Foundation ordered before leaving the west-side and picked up lunch for the entire office.
Patti Kurtz, owner of the Subway Sandwich shop said that people can call Subway at 288-9171 and they will deliver lunch to the dock.

And the Morning Journal was also “on board” with “That Woman” and her daughter and mother

“Nikki Beres said she was ”just out for lunch with the ladies,” and was making the boat trip with her mother and grandmother.

”I think it’s a great idea,” she said of the water taxi service. ”It’s got to bring some business to Lorain. You have all this prime lakefront and no one gets to use it.”

My mum loved it – she noted how clean everything was as Black River Landing, how atractive the setting, “park-like” and that the entranceway to the dock was reminiscent of the “thames embankment” – but cleaner

It was a such fun and you should “try it you”ll like it ” Mikey ( both Challender and Kennedy ) did
and the Morning Journal said :

The water taxi runs from Black River Landing on Friday at noon and 12:40 p.m. and from Spitzer Marina at 12:20 p.m. and 1 p.m., Novak said. It is also scheduled to leave Black River Landing on Friday and Saturday evenings at 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m. and from the Spitzer dock at 6:45, 7:45, 8:45 and 10 p.m.

That schedule will be tweaked, Novak said.

”Friday and Saturday service is being done on a trial basis,” he said. ”We figured that was the time people would go out to dinner. If interest grows, we’ll expand it.”

The Lorain Port Authority is also giving tours to the Lorain lighthouse, every hour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Novak said.
