A fairy tale loved by young and old alike, and now it has come to Lorain and our beautiful Palace Theatre, thanks to Lorain Community Music Theatre. Kathy Whitmore tells us :

Lorain Community Music Theater is proud to present Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ on July 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, & 20, 2008 at the beautifully restored Lorain Palace Theater. Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern stage classic, based on the Academy Award-winning animated film.

Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 pm, and the Sunday matinees will begin at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $15 for Adults and $13 for Seniors and Students, with all seats reserved.

As a special event, Lorain Community Music Theater will be hosting a Tea Party on July 13 and July 20 at 12 noon, prior to the Sunday performances. The Tea Party ticket will include: a ticket to the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ matinee, refreshments, roses for Princesses and swords for Princes, and a color photo with a character from the show. Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Belle and the Beast will be in attendance, so come dressed up for this delightful afternoon Tea Party! Tickets are $25 each, and availability is limited.
All performances and the Tea Party will be held at the Lorain Palace Theater. Tickets may be purchased by calling the box office at (440) 245-2323 or by visiting the Palace website at

But there is more Carol Kramer tell us that First Congregational Church ( 4th and Washington) 244-6283 is having a Lasagna Dinner and you will get a $1.00 off your dinner if you have tickets to the show. Reverend Carl will be leading the orchestra so they will get you to the performance in plenty of time:

A major fund raising dinner will be held at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, July 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. to help support our church member, Duncan Meyers, who will be leaving on July 13 for Iowa and/or Illinois to help in the clean up from the disasterous flooded area. Duncan is a part of the United Church of Christ Disaster Relief Organization and is no stranger to assisting. This will be his fourth trip to a flooded area. First two trips were to help rebuild homes in New Orleans and his last trip was to Biloxi MS last fall. Duncan’s wife Tracey is a fabulous Italian cook and she will prepare homemade lasagna to serve with salad, bread and dessert for $8.00.(Note: Since there is also a “Beauty and the Beast” show that night, if you have a ticket to the show, you will get $1.00 off on your dinner)
