What is Cancer?

paula by Paula Tobias
What is Cancer?

It’s a life changer.

You never see things as you did before.

Time is more precious (you almost despise those who take it for granted or waste it, especially your time)

Little things mean so much more (the smile on a loved ones face, laughter, the moment you don’t think of the cancer every single second of every single day, the ability to breath without a sigh)

The things or people that used to irritate you don’t mean $h!t anymore.

You yearn for miracles and in some cases they do happen (simple as they may be)
Example: The roommate is a snorer, you can’t get another room but lo and behold the bed brakes when the nurses are changing linens and a new room/mate is brought into the picture.

It’s strange when the worst times in your life pass and you have time to reflect. What have you learned what have you gained?
Insight?
Compassion?
Courage?
Knowledge?
Strength?

I was in a worry room recently, heard a healthcare provider call someone to “come back in for another test” and the conversation to reassure “this happens often” to comfort the voice on the other end.

Then a young woman comes in as she was called back, I heard the heavy sigh as soon as she came in, spoke to the receptionist asking to speak to the Tech after registering and sat down with another heavy sigh.

I wanted to comfort and reassure her, but I didn’t want to intrude. When I left the facility she was in conversation with the Tech and I could “feel” this was the beginning of the journey.

On this Seven Year Anniversary of Frank’s surgery…. I send my thoughts, prayers and offer any help or support to those affected by cancer.
