I am sending out personal thank you’s this weekend – a different sort of a “memorial weekend” for me at least.

The recipient of the $1,500.00 Christopher Ritchey Memorial Scholarship awarded for the year 2010-2011 went to 4th year Communication and Design Student
Jessica Obando (11). Cleveland Institute of Art.

The award given in memory of Chris was based upon the student’s ability to exhibit diversity , tenacity and out of the box thinking and did not necessarily have to be a student performing at the top of the class.

Chris’ family and friends will try to continue to give this scholarship every year and will use December 3rd as the day we will send the check to CIA.

If you would like to contribute in the future please contact me so I can give you all the details.

We are also considering a scholarship to Lorain County Community College.

As I have stated before Chris’ family , knowing his generous and loving nature, we realize Chris would want his name to be continued to be associated with the living and giving back to those places that gave so much to him.

He was more than a few lines in a Saturday Obituary or to be carved on a piece of granite. And as long as we can we will see to it that his name “lives”.

Thank you to all those that have supported our decision and helped make it possible.
