Remember the “kind” of September 11th

Loose Change Poster – design by Chris Ritchey

‘Kind” -having or showing a tender and considerate and helpful nature

There was no “kindness” in the nature of that September day as terror flew into the everyday working lives of those who experienced the dreadful destruction of September 11th 2001

They say you remember where you were and what you were doing until you die certain events-

September 3rd- 1939

Dec. 7th – 1941

November 22-1963

And September 11th 2001.

ED NOTE:The linked video is from ordinary citizens with a view of the destruction- released 5 years after that September 11th day

I was sitting on the couch that morning, having my first cup of tea- my son- in -law to be called

“We are being attacked”

Knowing his penchant for practical jokes and phone calls I said

yeah yeah right- tell me more”

Just then my daughter came down the stairs with the phone in her hand , hair dripping wet –

Mum he is right a plane just flew into a building in New York – turn on the television.

Another call beeped in it was my mum

“Oh there has been a terrible accident a plane has flown into a skyscraper”

Just as she said that Tony ( my cousin who was over for a trip ) is heard in the back ground

“Bloody Hell there is another one.”

We all went silent, incredulous watching as devastation rained down from the sky on a beautiful September morning.

I called my son- he told me that they were being evacuated from the college and told to return home- there was something going on in Cleveland , as he was heading to his campus apartment there were agents and militia armed with weapons in and around the streets- it was very tense. They were told to stay inside.

That day had a profound effect on this nation – I remember for the next two mornings- as I watered the garden not a sound from the sky , no roaring of the high-speed boats out on the lake- traffic was almost non existent- the sound of a siren sent chills- flags appeared outside the houses and on the streets – as if a patriotic garden bloomed from the carnage.

We did not move from the television- we watched as if from another planet the “human” story unfold that day. We hardly knew how to express our thoughts -the ugliness of hatred brought home -engulfing and billowing out as the towers and civilization fell in the name of “Jihad”.

As for those that carried out these attacks there are no adequate words of condemnation. Their barbarism will stand as their shame for all eternity.
–British Prime Minister Tony Blair

My son used his talents , he did a series of posters – that I have yet to find since his passing. It was after that day my son wore his patriotism proudly – always one to fly the flag ( more on that at the closure of this blog) he defended her the way he knew best through his work.

Yes , I am remembering Septembers and they are tinged with pride , lack of understanding , helplessness and prejudice against those that cause pain to the human heart and condition ………

and all who weep including the willow WE REMEMBER SEPT 11TH IN OUR OWN WAY!

Thank you for posting. Certain people have begun to forget what happened and who did it. We must NEVER forget the Twin Towers’ event AND the Flight 93 crash and all who perished and were heroes.

Peter I am sorry I have been busy trying to get programs ets back on my computer and my old email messages back…long story…. however apparently due to the length of your comment on this post and all the links you were seen as spam. A suggestion perhaps you may want to start a free blog of your own ( unless you already have one) and then just link to that site in your comments
    Sorry I didn’t catch it……Loraine

Well, I’m truly stumped at finding out that I’m the “Debbie Downer” of the blog readers

From seeing you “energized” as the feeding frenzy was about to begin against the disgraceful British Web Developer… one post from me and you were emotionally exhausted.

Now as to showing colmatt just who the true perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks were and providing actual names of the operatives, I also find myself bringing out the worst in WordPress’s spam blocking software.

I didn’t save the posting and i’d much rather see your prominent readers outside of Lorain County view it in your blog… the blog of a community activist who realizes that it is “easy” & “safe” to complain about 1200 + RSO’s living within an umpteen mile radius of downtown Lorain.

When the discussion about not showing the caskets of the war dead arose, PBS showed a family waiting in an airplane hangar at Dover AFB. Father, mother, 15-year old sister and 11-year old brother. The entire family was crying but it was the bubbling crying of that 15-year old blonde that broke my heart as she rushed ahead of her family to embrace her brother’s casket.

Is the name of that Fireland’s grad etched at the Settler’s Watch memorial, Loraine?

If we don’t all stop this slaughter together based on a phony war on terror, you’ll be standing there at Settler’s Watch looking at another Lorain County name and perhaps mumbling words of regret to him and yourself.

This isn’t going to be easy for any of us, yet you accepted an award on behalf of a group within your community for Settler’s Watch… you speak of the character flaws of the Lombardi family and deviant priests and yet you revert into “emotional meltdown” mode when an unpopular stance needs to be taken.

Approve the comment awaiting your moderation if you haven’t already deleted it Loraine.

This is going to hurt people you love an care about

This is going to cause pain and anger directed towards you

This is going to result in people trying to schmooze/cajole you

This is going to result in people you know and call friends into villifying you

This is going to save future Lorain County sisters from rushing to the caskets of their older brothers inside an airplane hanger at Dover AFB.

Peter not sure what you are talking about. I had a computer crash the other day – the whole thing went phutt….I have to purchase a new system with a different operating system .I have just got back on my own computer…… you sent a comment to this post it automatically went to spam as it had so many links and I didn’t allow it after so many hours of being in moderation……….. any more than two they are sent to spam – there are a huge number of comments that get sent there I don’t check them all…. in the meantime your notfiiciation through mjy outlook express account also was phut……… and it has taken me days to finally get my old emails and contact info back from my old computer…… and I may add 129 dollars… do so……
Your comment was very lengthy even more than a blog post…… all I am saying to you is that it would be better ( because readers don’t read lengthy comments…..just the way of the world……. to get your point across to start your own blog and then link to your thoughts in the comments……

    Cheers Loraine
