Guy Fawkes - the burning of Guy

I come from a heritage whose national pastime ( today November the 5th ) is burning a chap in effigy every year 🙂

Remember, Remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I see no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli’ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King! 1605

In 1776 the Brits were celebrating at Windsor Castle as they had been doing for nearly two centuries.

So you see readers by “remembering disgraceful behaviour” and “lighting up “ on my blog in the grand scheme of things I am only following my heritage and culture ….. 😉 What was it my old grandmother would say

“Breeding will out”
